WhelansLive is proud to present a celebration of new Irish music. Every Tuesday will see the upstairs venue play host to a series of the best of new music this country has to offer. Three hand-picked bands showcase their originality, performance and amazingly fresh songwriting skills. It is a great opportunity to see the next round of Ireland’s unsung and unsigned.
Babel are an original four-piece Irish band consisting of Calvin Doyle (Vocals), Jack Colgan (Guitar), James Colgan (Bass) and Orla Madden (Drums). Orla, Jack and James formed the band (unnamed at the time) back in 2009. Calvin joined in 2011, completing what is now known as Babel.
Highlights for Babel include performing on Radio Nova, Near FM and in the King Kong Club.
Hailing from the commuter town of Trimin Co.Meath, Secrecy began playing music in early 2007.
The 3 piece indie rock band consists of Conor Smith (guitar), Chris Clarke (vocals) and Johnny Mooney (Drums)
With different friends of the group joining and exiting the band, they eventually were left as a three piece.
With influences ranging from Muse to The Killers to Rory Gallagher to Jim Croce and beyond, Secrecy have become a strong and well gelled entity and their live performances will show this.
With many gigs under their belts from local bars to venues like The Palace and The Sugar Club, this unsigned act are one to watch.
The band’s upcoming E.P entitled “Sounds Of A Sunday Afternoon” is currently being mixed and mastered by the band at their home studio and set for release in late March.
