Katie Laffan announces Whelans headlining debut for February 2018
An inventive musician and songwriter, Katie Laffan has used a home studio, her grandad’s old keyboard, a laptop and various instruments to create a sound drawn on a range of musical styles – funk and modern pop, reggae and ska, post-punk and even a bit of hip-hop.
From her 2015 debut EP to the affectingly electronic ‘Trophy’ and indie-disco anthem ‘Tastemaker’, she has won acclaim both at home and in the UK, along the way appearing at the likes of St Patrick’s Festival’s Young Blood event, Body & Soul, Electric Picnic (where she was deemed the new act of the festival by the Irish Times) and last weekend’s Other Voices in Dingle.
Katie will return with a new single ‘Aversion’ in January and her second EP in March, preceded by her first headline show on February 22nd at Whelan’s.
