JOHN FAIRHURST

Whelanslive.com presents

JOHN FAIRHURST

plus guests

There are few musicians in this world that live, eat and sleep real music and few musicians are capable of taking you back in time, to the very birth of a genre.

John Fairhurst truly epitomises the modern day wandering blues man. Stories of hunger, listlessness, roaming and reckless abandon are just a prelude to John’s amazing story, something that can only be fully understood in the presence of the man.

John has now teamed up with Joe Strouzer, a young man pushing the boundaries of modern harmonica playing. Weaving complex layers and lines through cutting edge effects pedals and traditional valve amps,

the John Fairhurst Band kick out epic Indian-raga infused foot stomping blues that’ll make your bones rattle.

Hailed by many as the best guitarist in Britain and nominated in The British Blues Awards 2013 for Best Original Song. From backstreet Bangkok blues bars to huge international festival stages, from busking the streets of the world to sold out shows in Paris and London, John returns to Ireland this July… Catch him while you can!

Here’s what other people say….

“Truly Exquisite” – The Guardian

“John Fairhurst is possibly the finest guitarist you will ever see…prepare to be stunned.” – BBC

“All the slide guitars skills of Robert Johnson…Fairhurst exudes a zest for life and  being that is nothing short of intoxicating.” – Electric Ghost

“ Whiskey, cigars and too much good living gives musicians such as Muddy Waters, Mark Lanegan, Tom Waits, and John Fairhurst a deep growling gravitas, imbuing their music with a profundity unachievable by other methods. Fairhurst is both a masterful musician and songwriter..He creates  his own land and makes his own  traditions with a freshness that is breathtaking.” – City Lifers

“As gripping as it is totally different. Trembling chords rise slowly out of the  speakers like dark mist on a bayou, while Fairhurst’s Bangkok blues hang in  the background, sliding in and out with steely precision.” – Bearded Magazine
