Fresh from being nominated for the Meteor Choice Music Prize for the critically acclaimed Ocean of Frequency, Jape is delighted to announce a headline show on March 16th in Whelan’s, Dublin. Tickets will cost €15 + booking fee and will feature support from very special guests.
To coincide with the Choice nomination and the Dublin show announcement, brand new single ‘Scorpio’ will be released on Friday March 9th. Driven by an instantly memorable acoustic guitar, the melodic rhythm is accompanied by Egan’s soft yet rich vocals, creating a song that is both warm and haunting.
As the front man explains – “We took a drive up around the Hellfire Club one day and there were definitely spirits in the air. They came back to our house in the car boot and helped me write this one.”

On their album Ocean of Frequency – the follow up to 2008’s Meteor Choice Music Prize winner Ritual – Jape draw inspiration from the likes of Prefab Sprout, Caribou and the solo albums of BrianEno, to create earworm melodies with the musical innovation of Beck and Steve Mason. Using an inventive mix of live instruments, hardware samplers and sequencers, Jape knit together an eclectic blend of meticulously crafted lyrics and electronic rhythms that flit comfortably across a myriad of genres.
