RESHAM-KA BELLYDANCERS & DANCE WORK SHOP

After two years touring with their van in France, Germany and Ireland ; nine months living together in their home studio in Macroom, Co. Cork; and a three-year break ; the musicians of French band Txütxükan are back in Ireland in August for a tour to present their new album ‘Surf the river Lee’, a 10 track album with only original music !

This second album represents the diverse cultural and musical backgrounds of all its musicians. Starting out from the upbeat energy of Balkan rythms, the music explores musical interconnections, enjoying the creativity and beauty of music from different parts of the world. You will hear them travel; listening to languorous swing, upbeat surf, going to the East through the Balkans as far as Indonesia, and even lose themselves in electric roads (Rock, funk ..).

The band consists of accordionist Joseph Detailleur, clarinettist Dylan Gully, guitarist Bruno Hollemaert, Percussionist Joachim Mouflin, bassist Eric Belot, and guest Gamelan player Stella Rodrigues.

The tour around Ireland will take them to Dunmore East, Dingle, Ballydehob, Blarney, Cork, Galway, Derry, Dublin. They will be joined in Dublin by Resham-Ka Tribal Bellydancers and DJ Mayakovsky.

Resham-Ka Tribal are an American Tribal Style® Belly Dance trio teaching and performing in Dublin. They will start the evening with a small workshop to give the audiance the chance to learn easy and funny mouvements. ATS® belly dance is a contemporary fusion style with movements inspired by folkloric dances of the Middle East, India, North Africa and Spain. ATS® is an improvisational group dance, each movement has its own cue which dancers use to indicate to each other when a change in move or formation is about to happen allowing the dancers to communicate through dance and create spontaneous, improvisational choreography.

DJ Mayakovsky, a veteran of Eastern Europe, will end the night with his favourite Balkan, Romanian, and Hungarian tunes: from blazing gypsy brass to speedy violins.
