BIO:

What if Ian Curtis had been on speed instead of caning downers? In an alternate reality, Dead School may be writing an album in a similar orbit but different solar system to Unknown Pleasures. Having spent an intense few months holed up, writing songs and honing their sound, it is clear that these guys have managed to create their own full-on sonicscape; dark and unsettling, but by no means sedate. Formed less than a year ago in August 2010, the band have quickly developed a real stage presence – their live show has been playing to packed houses around  Ireland and the band is set to continue this through out the month of July . When you catch it live, you’ll realise why there is such early record label interest in Dead School. The post-punk terrain has been covered before, but Dead School bring elements of this sound kicking and screaming into 2011. You’ve been warned. The band released their debut double single, ‘Frailties/Standing on the Edge’  on April 28th to great acclaim and have been receiving very positive reviews(Hot Press, Drop D.ie ect) and consistent airplay on both National and Regional Radio since the release. The Band have already recorded live sessions for Red FM,96 FM, Beat FM, Tipp FM, Galway Bay FM and KLCR. Dead School have also recorded  a ‘Green Room’ session for the Paul McLoone show which will be aired on the 13th of July. Dead school have also played the Hot Press Freezer sessions in June and have also been confirmed for the Indiependence Music Festival and the Blazing Horse Festival this year. July sees the band continue the ‘Frailties’ tour and return to the studio to put the finishing touches to their 2nd single ‘threeseventeen’ which is due to be released on the 20th of Aug. UK and German shows are also confirmed for the Aug / Sept time frame. Dead School are Donal McDonald (vocals/percussion), James McDonald (guitar/drums /vocals), Cathal Maheer (Guitars / Drumss/ Keys) Ruairi Dale (Bass)
