SQUAREHEAD

+ Hello Moon & The Bridges of Madison County “ …. Came good on the early promise of the trio’s live performances, it shook Dublin’s garage-rock scene till it was dizzy and then hugged it back to health ……shoulder to shoulder with Weezer’s finest moments” The Irish Times It has been a wildly productive & successful 2011 for Dublin’s Squarehead during which they won over a legion of new fans with their wonderfully infectious & utterly charming psych-pop meets garage-rock debut album Yeah Nothing which finished at the business end of many Irish end-of-year polls. Whelan’s are now delighted to announce that in between a coveted appearance at Eurosonic 2012 and returning to the studio to begin work on their eagerly anticipated sophomore record, Squarehead have found the time to play one final headline show in our main venue on Friday 3rd February We expect to hear some of our favourite razor-edged jangled punk from their brilliant Sonic Youth-meets-The Shangri-Las debut album Yeah Nothing as well as some sneak previews of forthcoming new material. Lauded for their electric live performances and already able to count already Morrissey, Lauren Laverne and Dan Letts as fans this show is not to be missed What initially started as the solo acoustic project of singer and guitarist Roy Duffy, has quickly grown into a full three-piece band capturing the ears of Irish music fans and bloggers throughout 2011. The band have subsequently established themselves as live favourites performing nationwide dates including support slots with the likes of No Age, Calvin Johnson, Deer Tick, Male Bonding and Titus Andronicus. Hello Moon Hello Moon from Dublin make chimey jangly fuzzy pop songs, they have just released their debut album Only Count The Sunny Hours on Any Other City Records they have already had the privilege of opening for Teenage Fanclub, Cloud Control and Lower Dens. The Bridges Of Madison County The Bridges Of Madison County is a band comprised of members of The Jimmy Cake, Hooray For Humans, Hands Up Who Wants To Die and Sylvan. They could be described as Scruff Pop, Wonk Pop, Noise Pop or clumsy Neanderthals tripping over their own feet, but we’ll let you decide. Squarehead play Whelan’s on February 3rd 2012 for what promises to be a sensational show.
