Singer songwriter Pete Cummins has been playing music since 1964 when he formed his first beat group, The Circle with school friends.
In 1968 He joined Granny’s Intentions, the Limerick band who were really successful in Ireland and had secured a recording deal with Deram Records.
The band re-located to London and recorded Honest Injun with the 16 year old Gary Moore who was making his recording debut.
Their home on Belsize Ave became a place where Irish bands Like Thin Lizzie and Skid Row found friendship, comfort and spliffs.
Pete later joined up with superstar folk singer Donovan and put an Irish band together for him, which included Philip Donnelly on guitar.
In 1985 together with Johnny Moynihan and Frankie Lane, they formed the legendary Fleadh Cowboys who were phenomenally successful during the eighties and nineties, and recorded two albums, High Ace to Heaven and, Time of your Life.
Guests on their legendary Midnight at the Olympia series included The Waterboys, Joe Ely, Roger McGough, Hothouse Flowers, Nanci Griffith, and many more…..
Pete has recorded and played with Nanci Griffith with whom he won a Grammy award, Townes Van Zandt, The Chieftains, toured with The Pouges, Emmylou Harris, and supported U2, Tony Joe White.
Pete recorded two solo albums, The Brilliant Architect which included Breakfast with Leonard, the fascinating story of an encounter with Leonard Cohen, and Crooked Highway which includes No Profanity under the Roof a song inspired with a night of drinking with Townes Van Zandt.
Among the guests on the night will be old friends, Johnny Duhan and Frankie Lane and many more.
