MYLES MANLEY

www.mylesmanley.com www.mylesmanley.bandcamp.com www.facebook.com/mylesmanley Myles Manley is a formerly enigmatic DIY pop artist from Sligo who made his name with a ‘career in a year’, culminating in the well-received Greatest Hits 2012-2013. The FADER premiered jubilant comeback single Relax; Enjoy Your Night Upon the Town in February, released on 7″ through Dublin-based Little L Records and followed by tours of the UK & Ireland, most recently with Rattle in September. ‘Myles Manley’ is currently a three piece guitar band consisting of Myles Manley, longstanding collaborator Christopher Barry and Cork’s drummer Solamh Kelly (Trumpets of Jericho, Dragons of Shandon). They spent the year honing an album of percussive, skeletal protest-pop music which is an exact replica of their joyful live set, which will have value as a historical document when it comes out. Until then you need to see a gig, e.g. upstairs at Whelan’s, Dublin on Sat, Dec 16 (with the amazing Rattle and Strength N.I.A.). PRAISE for MM “Myles Manley is a true maverick” Clash Magazine “[Pay Me What I’m Worth] is an anthem for anyone who works below middle management… a gem.” Phil Taggart, BBC Radio 1 “an eye and ear for the twisted pop nugget … adventurous live shows … audacious ambition … already showing a very impressive set of heels” Jim Carroll, Irish Times “MORE SONGS by MYLES MANLEY is helpful and very skilful” Conor O’Brien (Villagers) — — — — —

RATTLE

https://www.facebook.com/rattleandrattle/ https://iownyourecords.bandcamp.com/album/rattle-lp RATTLE focus almost exclusively on drums and more drums, beneath a delicate overlay of vocal harmonies and percussive effects. Formed by Katharine Eira Brown (also of Kogumaza) and Theresa Wrigley (also of Fists), Rattle began as an experiment in crafting rich songs and melody using drums and voice alone. Their music weaves and intertwines post-punk, minimalism and experimental rock, through off-kilter rhythms, patterns and counter melodies. They released their debut album, Rattle in August 2016 via Upset The Rhythm and I Own You Records. This led to invitations to support Animal Collective on a short UK tour and The Julie Ruin on their European tour. Their live performances, at once hypnotic, monastic and danceable have entranced audiences at recent Supersonic, Supernormal and Sin-Eater festivals. The band are currently working on their second album in their home town of Nottingham, UK and are touring to Spain and Belgium this Summer. PRAISE for Rattle: ‘This is everything I believe about music: its humanity and rhythm and silences and fucking and rhythm and magic and solitude. Really it is.’ – Everett True ‘Great percussive art-pop’ – Mr Atavist ‘Rattle sound so utterly fresh.’ – ATTN: Magazine ‘Rattle’s greatest accomplishment is managing to paint in black and white and produce the effect of colourful variety, to deconstruct the magic of music with subversive simplicity and create something new.’ – The Quietus — — — — —

STRENGTH N.I.A

http://www.strengthnia.com/ https://www.facebook.com/strengthnia/ https://strengthnia.bandcamp.com/ Strength N.I.A are an unorthodox pop band from Derry, Northern Ireland. Led by singer Rory Moore they describe their music as “Werewolf Pop”. They use thick bass lines, organ and lovely beats to accompany the lyrical narratives of Moore’s powerful voice. The resulting music nods to the past in a familiar way, but has a personality that is immediate, intense and now. PRAISE for Strength N.I.A. “1956 Olympics is a mad song. Totally awesome !” – TIM SCOTT, VICE / NOISEY “The genuine article” – STATE MAGAZINE “Wonky robo-pop from Derry & Donegal.” – BBC RADIO ULSTER “Rory has been a vivid, uncategorizable presence in the music mix of these parts for an indeterminable period.” – HOT PRESS
