STEPHEN SHARPE & THE BROKE STRAIGHT BOYS

https://www.facebook.com/stevensharpemusic/ Steven Sharpe & The Broke Straight Boys bring their explosively flamboyant gay rock show to Whelans, Dublin. The band have been performing their own brand of out’n’proud music around Ireland for the past 3 years and have made quite a name for themselves with their electric live shows. Steven has a veracious, witty, and soulful style which blends music, humour and storytelling. Sharpe has an eclectic mix of influences such as r&b, folk, rock, spoken word, blues/soul, musical theatre, and a number of avant-garde and alternative artists, all of which is clear in his unique approach to music and performance. “The Broke Straight Boys” includes the talents of David Shaughnessy on drums, Shane O’Malley on bass, and folk/blues musician Dylan Murphy on lead guitar. On the 5th of May they will be releasing their debut album “Shut Up Dylan”. Recorded at Willow Sea Studios in Galway, and in association with Galway based independent label “Citóg Records”, the album captures their live sound and Steven’s knack for storytelling. The record features crowd favorites such as “WORK!” “All Men Are Bastards” and “Who’s The Man?” plus many more. “Songwriter, storyteller, raconteur, guitarist, entertainer, and challenger of traditional gender and sexual roles, Steven Sharpe is a man deserving of the term ‘multi-talented’… Flamboyant and outrageous, Steven’s witty tales of contemporary gay life are filtered through Led Zeppelin influenced blues stompers and dexterous acoustic numbers.” – Kernan Andrews, Galway Advertiser “The best Irish entertainer I’ve seen to date” – Simon McDonagh, TheThinAir.net “…see him play live. It’s an experience not to be missed” -Cathal McCormack, aee.ie “One of Galways best kept secrets” -Body & Soul, HotPress.com
