EMPATHY

http://www.empathyofficial.com/ https://www.facebook.com/empathyofficial/

Empathy is a 4-piece alternative rock outfit currently defining itself on the Irish music circuit. Citing bands such as Placebo and Interpol as their influences, Empathy’s ability to blend delicate and distorted guitar tones, disciplined bass lines and complimentary drum patterns with a vocal style reminiscent of Ian McCulloch (Echo & the Bunnymen) is what influenced Unsigned & Independent Magazine to brand them “kitchen sink music for the new generation.”

The band’s concept was formed in 2007 when lead singer/guitarist Dean Nolan and drummer Adam McCarthy paired up, having previously performed together on past projects. The search began for the band’s unique sound they now possess, and it would take over two years before bassist Stephen Callan (right) completed the line-up. In 2012, the group enjoyed various successful performances and coverage, including an acoustic set at Hilfiger Music Days featured in Hot Press Magazine, reaching the semi-finals of the Courtyard Hotel Battle of the Bands, an appearance on Radio Nova’s “Locals Only” show with Carol Dooley, and performing at the Ballinamore Free Fringe Festival.

In 2014, the band was forced to take a break from working due to illness, and would not be able to perform regularly again for a further 3 years. In that time, Empathy had to part ways with Stephen and the search then began to rebuild the outfit. In the summer/autumn of 2016 the band recruited Ross Byrne to take on the bass duties, as well as second guitarist Dan Rheinisch to bring a new dynamic and sound to Empathy.

As of January 2017, Empathy are delighted to say they are back performing regularly on the Dublin circuit, working harder than ever on their music, performances, and writing.

BOOM CHILD

http://boomchildband.com/ https://www.facebook.com/boomchildband/ Boom Child are a three-headed rock band from Dublin who arose from the generational scrapheap in 2013. On finding they were now living in a neoliberal wasteland they quickly formed a hip musical group. Their debut EP the ‘SUPER EDIBLE EP’ is a typical mix of funk, K-pop, dance and hardcore punk and can be eaten at any meal.
