Lars Vincent is a Dublin based Contemporary/Modern Irish Folk artist. Originally from Mullingar in the heart of Ireland, he lives in Dublin city. Lars is a former member of the Irish defence forces where he spent 11 years as a soldier. In his time here he served both at home and abroad. He ceased service in 2010 in order to follow his passions in order to pursue a career in music. Lars burst on to the music scene with his first release in May 2012. His first release; an EP titled I’m a Man You Don’t Meet Everyday went on to receive two 5 star reviews by MRU Ireland and Goldenplec. This gained him fans in the shape of The Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan and one of folk music’s finest songwriters, Eric Bogle. In September 2013, Lars followed up with another EP release titled Through These Eyes. No stranger to the stage, Lars has headlined and played at some of Ireland’s award winning music venues from Whelans to The Sugar Club and from The Stables in Mullingar to Monroes in Galway. He played support to The Furey brothers during their recent Irish tour. By reviewers, his music is said to display passion, honesty, sadness, poetic anger and charisma. It was recently said by Sean Laffey of Irish Music Magazine that Lars was ‘imbued with the strident spirit of Zozimus’ He also noted how Lars takes no prisoners in his ‘razorwire look at contemporary life’ It was Shane MacGowan who said that his voice was a ‘brilliant additive to the Irish song’ whilst Lars was recording his debut EP in 2012 at Transmission studio rooms in Drumlish. On hearing Lars Vincent sing, you instantly know his roots and that he’s at his most comfortable as a musician when you put a song or two within his reach. A lover of folk music, it was the likes of The Clancy brothers and Tommy Makem, The Fureys and The Dubliners that inspired Lars to dive into the genre of folk music. In August 2016, Lars released his debut music video for his song, People in Glasshouses (See music page) Lars Vincent is currently working on his debut album which is due for release in early 2017. Lars plays acoustic and rhythm guitar and 6 string banjo and is joined by fellow musicians Robbie Brennan and Stephen Burke when performing live sets. “Imbued with the strident spirit of Zozimus, Lars tells it as it is, he takes no prisoners in his razor wire look at contemporary Dublin life” – Sean Laffey ‐ Irish Music Magazine “He draws you in lyrically. Musically it’s infectious, and of course the melodies are great” – Rob Smith – Hot Press
