ROE

https://www.facebook.com/roemusicofficial/ Last year was exciting for this 18-year-old artist from Derry. A series of singles and live shows across Ireland, Europe, and North America, including BBC Introducing at Glastonbury, have the plaudits coming in from bloggers and journalists alike. Her music, which has already featured on advertising campaigns and TV shows, is now getting serious radio airplay. Expect to hear a lot about ROE this year! Her latest single “Wasted.Patient.Thinking” is out now on Fictive Kin Records and is available worldwide via all major digital retailers. — — — — —

CINEMA

https://www.facebook.com/cinemamusicireland/ Cinema is result of the visually heavy, electronic sounds created by Ireland-based Peter Fleming. His synthesised emotive soundscapes, rhythmic guitar, and pop-sounding vocals have led him to high acclaim both within and outside of Ireland’s music scene. Having clocked regular airtime on the country’s national broadcast station with his latest single, “Floating,” the quality of Cinema’s live performances have grown accordingly, leading him to Ireland’s largest music festivals. With a shift towards a stronger visual accompaniment on its way, the Cinema project appears to be continuing its evolution and growth in 2018. — — — — —

VULPYNES

https://www.facebook.com/vulpynes/ Don’t let looks deceive you. For a two-piece band, Vulpynes make a lot of noise. Expect a fusion of low-end riffs, melodic hooks, snarling vocals, and a visceral rhythm section. For the past 18 months, Vulpynes have been tearing up venues and festivals with their fiery and relentless wall of sound. Hailed for their stirring and motor-driven live performances, Vulpynes have garnered a wide fanbase in both Ireland and abroad. Their recent signing with UK label Headcheck Records and plans to tour the UK, Germany, and beyond suggests 2018 will be their busiest year yet. — — — — —

JYELLOWL

https://www.facebook.com/JyellowL/ Fresh from being picked as one of 2018’s most promising new acts by The Thin Air and State.ie, as well as an astonishing show at Whelan’s Ones To Watch in Dublin, Irish rapper JyellowL has released two new videos from his debut Bulletproof EP. While the tracks may be of different styles (showcasing both the softer and harder side of his music), the videos act as companion pieces — telling the story of confronting your demons, conquering them before eventually becoming them. With last year’s appearance on the RTE cypher series and “Nuh Fi Hurt Me,” recently featuring alongside the likes of Brockhampton, Warm Brew, and Tyler The Creator on Spotify’s Alternative Hip-Hop playlist, JyellowL is fast becoming one of the most exciting, intelligent artists on the Irish scene. — — — — —

CATHAL DOWD

https://www.facebook.com/cathaldowdmusic/ Cathal Dowd is a singer/songwriter from Killorglin, Co. Kerry, now living in Bristol, whose songs toe the line between approachable and lyrically dense. This results in music that gets more sincere with each repeated listen. He plays the guitar in a style that lies somewhere between the punchy, loop pedals of Ed Sheeran and the various unique open-string tunings of Newton Faulkner. His inspirations come from various other artists including Paul Simon, Ben Howard, and Tallest Man on Earth. Just beginning his foray into the music scene, Cathal has just released his debut album, “Friendly Shores.”
