JUNIOR BROTHER

plus support RACHAEL LAVELLE SHANE CLIFFORD ^ Upstairs ^ Facebook eventJunior Brother is an experimental folk singer/ songwriter from Co. Kerry, Ireland, playing sometimes humorous, sometimes heady tunes. Strange stories, poetic and arcane, unfold with reckless abandon upon an idiosyncratic Guitar and Foot Tambourine accompaniment. Unique, experimental and distinctly Irish, his material draws heavily in tone and subject matter from his upbringing in rural Ireland. Currently based in Dublin, Junior Brother’s played the annual Whelan’s Ones to Watch festival the last two years, and has played support for acts such as the Hot House Flowers, The Spook of the Thirteenth Lock and R.S.A.G. This year, he is set to release his first official single, “Hungover at Mass”, recorded in Ailfionn Studios with Christopher Barry (Myles Manley, Ye Vagabonds). The single will be launched with a number of gigs at the end of July/ start of August, culminating in his first Whelan’s Upstairs headline show on August 10th. “Carries that inimitable Kerry trait and proud tradition of being a bona-fide storyteller….perhaps the strongest traits in his music and persona are a lack of cowardice mixed with talent.” Remy’s Music and Film Blog “His songs are full of emotion, and also lots and lots of humour…could only be written in Ireland.” John Barker, Totally Irish 98fm
