JUHN ECHO

plus guest SLOW MOVING CLOUDS ^ Upstairs ^ Juhn Echo -Bio- Juhn Echo are a three-piece band from Ireland. They are all involved in some sort of musicing in their daily lives and experiment in a variety of styles. Traditional Irish music is where they find common ground and it is through traditional music that they all met in the first place. Juhn Echo have been together for three years and have played a variety of gigs and festivals around Ireland including Electric Picnic, Body and Soul, Knockanstockan, Jack of Diamonds and many more. They recently launched their first E.P. and were helped in this endeavour by Jack Kirwan who recorded percussion on all 5 tracks of the E.P. The band is made of Niamh Regan (voice, guitar), Hajime Takahashi (banjo, guitar) and Ultan OʼBrien (fiddle). Testimonials ʻReganʼs vocals are at times both sweet and powerfulʼ ….. ʻThey play with one foot in the past without it ever being possible to say they are rooted there.ʼ – Sean Noone of U&I Magazine ʻa seriously impressive new bandʼ…….ʻJuhn Echo display an inherent talent for a sweetly crafted melodyʼ – Tony Lawless, Tradconnect ʻTheir debut EP is a wonderful introduction.ʼ Irish Times ////////

SLOW MOVING CLOUDS

http://dannydiamond.ie/slow-moving-clouds-danny-aki/ Slow Moving Clouds are a Dublin-based acoustic string trio who borrow melodies from the Irish and Finnish music traditions, creating their own unique, organic, rough-edged sound, which ranges from lush cinematic soundscapes to manic angular dance tunes. The members of the trio are Kevin Murphy (cello), Danny Diamond (fiddle) and Aki (nyckelharpa and vocals). Cellist Kevin Murphy has been at the cutting edge of Irish music since he first came to prominence as a member of the band Interference in the late 1980s & early 1990s. Kevin has since played with a variety of acts including Gavin Friday, Adrian Crowley and currently his acclaimed cello-based instrumental project Seti the First. Fiddle player Danny Diamond explores a unique sound-world, rooted in the rich heritage of Irish traditional music, but incorporating wider influences from Nordic and American folk to baroque music to experimental pop. In addition to Slow Moving Clouds, he plays with the Irish traditional band Mórga and released his debut solo albumFiddle Music in Summer 2014. Aki’s broad musical background ranges across experimental music to Irish and Nordic folk music, soundtrack composition and pop production. He is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who has worked previously with Danny in the duo Danny and Aki and with Kevin in the experimental instrumental band Seti the First.
