JOHN CARRIE & MOOR GREEN

JOHN CARRIE AND MOOR GREEN

+ guests.

John Carrie is a Tipperary born musician who has spent most of his musical career playing abroad. Based in Holland he has released two albums to much critical acclaim there with his band Moor Green (Gary Leatherland – drums, Karl Griffiths – bass, Sjoerd Spoelstra – piano, theremin and drives the bus). Their debut album ‘Folk is not happy’ (2007 pias), considered by Holland’s leading music magazine OOR as ‘a jewel of an album’, described the band as one with ‘natural raw talent’. Their latest release ‘Clearing Air’ (2010 pias) was described as ‘dark, raw and brilliant’ in the press there and established the band as an act to be taken seriously. Last year John toured through France with Limerick legends The Cranberries, supported Scott Matthews in Paris and toured through Holland with Xavier Rudd. The music evolves of eclectic tastes and influences with comparisons to artists like The Veils. Neil Young , Pink Floyd and ‘a bunch of tripped out hippie students’(MusicFrom magazine). This will be a first show in Dublin for the band since supporting The Kings of Leon in 2004 so it promises to be a sweet homecoming full of wilder eyesoulful ballads and toe tap tempting hullabaloos.
