Greg Clifford is a talented, multi-instrumentalist from Dublin. Clifford’s style is an amalgamation of singer songwriter with rock, blues, jazz and folk. Clifford also provides us with astute chamber orchestra arrangements. He acquired this skill whilst studying in NUI Maynooth for his BA in Music and masters in contemporary composition.

Clifford, who was also front man of the Irish rock band ELAVATOR for six years, describes this solo project as ‘one of the most liberating and rewarding musical experiences’ of his career. He reflects, ‘It was the right time in my life to document this material and expand musically’. The album was launched Sat 1st Dec 2012 upstaris in Whelans to a sold out crowd. The album was recorded/produced and mixed by NDT Productions. The album has been well received generating interest from various Irish radio stations and blog reviews. Sat 1st June 2013 Clifford released a new 7 track EP (entitled ‘The Temple Lane Recordings’). Jack Sherry (flute/violin), Ross O’Farrell (bass) and Richie Kennedy (drums) feature on this album and currently gig with Clifford. There will be further releases come December. Aside from the popular music market, Clifford has toured internationally with the Diversus Guitar Ensemble and appeared in the National Concert Hall on a number of occasions. He also works as arranger for NDT Productions and as a session guitarist. He recently took part in the RTE series ‘Instrumental’, in which, along with 5 others, he learnt a new instrument in the space of 4 months. The show culminated in Clifford performing his own arrangement of his track ‘Changing Everyday’ on the clarinet with the backing of full scale orchestra. 2013 has also seen the active musician perform at the Shannonside Winter Music Weekend with Diversus and tour in March with an eccentric Irish folk group in Switzerland. His biggest influences include The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Rory Gallagher. He also cites Nick Cave, J.S. Bach, The Small Faces, The Doors and Dr. Feelgood as a major source of inspiration and acknowledges the writings of Albert Camus and Charles Bukowski as having an influence on his lyrical output.
