DAITHI

LATE SHOW // DOORS 11:30pm

_ Main Venue _

We’re delighted to announce a very special late night performance by Daithi in Whelan’s main venue on Thur 12th May. Tickets go on sale Fri 22nd Apr, 9am online from Whelanslive.com. New single “Love’s On Top” (feat. Sinead White) Daithi releases his new EP Tribes on 26th February. The next single from the EP is Love’s On Top featuring Dublin singer-songwriter Sinead White. This follows the 2015 big single, Mary Keanes Introduction, which has been nominated for a Choice Music Prize. The EP will be available on limited 12” vinyl and well as digitally. The vinyl is available to pre-order from http://www.daithi.ie/ . The vinyl pre-order includes an immediate download of Mary Keanes Introduction and Love’s On Top. Daithi will tour the country in February and March, including the Tribes launch show in the Roisin Dubh on 26th February. Speaking about Love’s On Top Daithi says: “I came across Sinead White last year, and really loved how her voice had a unique ‘Irish’ quality to it, but at the same time felt very contemporary. It was a perfect match for Love’s on Top, which was a track inspired by Galway City at night, especially the west end and around the Spanish Arch. This track could be considered the lead single to the Tribes E.P, and it’s a good snapshot of what the rest of the record is like”. And on the EP: “The first single, Mary Keanes Introduction, was a real game changer for me, because it was the first track I released inspired by a new direction. I want to write dance music that’s not just inspired by traditional music, but by the culture, the scenery and atmosphere of the west of Ireland. Tribes is the start of me going in that direction, it’s full of nature sounds and samples from this part of the country. Even for that simple reason, this EP means way more to me than anything I’ve released so far. I hope people enjoy listening to it as much as I did creating it.” ———————————— Tribes is the follow up to his 2013 In Flight debut album. Daithi’s new improv live show has taken his performance to a whole new level, and, after a summer of hugely successful shows at Body &Soul, Longitude, Indiependance and Electric Picnic, he’s been back on the road again. Since the start of his career, Daithi has been known as an Irish fiddle player using electronics to boost traditional Irish music into something unique and different. Before even releasing a record, Daithí was supporting Santigold, The XX, Macklemore and DJ Shadow on Irish dates across the country. Synthesising his influences from UK garage, house and traditional Irish music, he presented a 10-track album In Flight in 2013. After receiving a lot of airplay, Daithi entered the Irish charts with his debut and Choice-nominated single “Chameleon Life” featuring the incredible Raye on singing duties. Daithi’s producing career was mentored by Ian Ring (Young Wonder, Talos) and he made his name as the ‘go-to’ man to remake songs for the dance floor for the likes of Fight Like Apes, All Tvvins and Original Rudeboys.
