Ireland’s wildest electro-pop act, Bitches With Wolves are very proud to announce that their first live show of 2011 will take place at Whelan’s on Wexford Street on Thursday 3rd February 2011. A rollicking celebratory extravaganza for their pack of loyal fans, the gig will be the act’s most ambitious show to date and a chance to showcase some brand new material for the first time.
The show’s announcement comes following what has been an extremely successful 2010 for Bitches With Wolves. Working to galvanise a solid fan base, the year has seen them tear the roof off Oxegen, Electric Picnic and Lovebox in London, garnering attention from far and wide. Other show stoppers in 2010 have included two appearances on Arthur’s Day, supporting Groove Armada and Tinie Tempah amongst others, as well as their own three-night stand at Dublin’s Academy in April.
Starting as a con to a club promoter at a house party in Hackney two blurry years ago, Bitches With Wolves was born with nothing more than an eye set firmly on the stars, a stellar wardrobe, a gig date and ‘You Can’t Piss To This’ as a song title. “Up until that night,” says front-man James O’Neill, “I’d always dreamt of creating ear-popping music and attention grabbing live performances, but never had the balls to just go for it. But there was no way in hell that I was going to miss out on this chance.”
Musically, Bitches With Wolves command you to surrender to that primal instinct, take your shirt off, get loose and throw it down with animal abandon. Mainlining electro beats with a shot of pop sensibility, with lyrics that sing of sin, joy and heartache, the end result is one of cosmic, sonic escapism.
Not content with changing the face of Irish pop music, Dublin-born O’ Neill also heads up Dublin’s notoriously demented club night WAR which takes place every Friday in Andrew’s Lane Theatre, where, much like his Bitches With Wolves stage performances, the audience are encouraged to release their inhibitions, lose their minds and their modesty.
