The first in what we hope will become an annual Grapevine Music north American songwriter tour features three of the most talented and charismatic Canadian women. Performing together for the first time Awna, Brandy and Cara will help redefine the breadth and beauty of Canadian music.

Awna is some talented lady, not only does she have one of the most memorable voices around but she can play almost any instrument you care to name; try these for size – guitar, banjo, electric bass, gutbucket bass, ukulele, keyboards, accordion, glockenspiel, harmonica and percussion. Along with Allison Russell she has spent most of the last 8 years touring the world with Canadian band Po’Girl but has recently taken advantage of the band’s sabbatical to develop her solo career and in 2012 Awna toured across the United States, Canada, Europe and the UK. Oh, and she writes children’s books too!

Brandy is now touring solo after the recent demise of the wonderful Juno nominated Canadian group Twilight Hotel. Like Awna she has a captivating voice and can play a shed load of instruments including gorgeous lap steel guitar and blistering Hohner accordion. During 2013 Brandy will release her first solo record for 5 years and continue her long association with Austin all-female group The Trishas.

Cara is all about music. Born into a folk music family in Calgary, Alberta Cara played with dulcimers and autoharps while her peers played with Barbies and Nintendo. She went on to record a couple of solo records before forming the Wailin’ Jennys and recording the exquisite Juno winning ‘40 Days’. Since leaving the trio she has wowed audiences and critics with her solo performances across North America and Europe and in 2012 released her fourth CD ‘Darlingford’ which features an all-star cast of guest musicians.
