ATLAS

https://www.facebook.com/atlasduo ‘Atlas’ is a brand new venture between two highly accomplished musicians, Cillian King & Cillian Doheny. Although the project has been brewing since 2009, it is only now that time has allowed the pair to finally piece together the concept. While specializing in ambient folk, a telling influence within the creative process is their desire to explore thematic duet music in all its forms. — — — — —

SHANE HENNESSEY

https://www.facebook.com/ShaneHennessyMusic https://twitter.com/ShaneHennessy Shane Hennessy is a solo fingerstyle guitarist, whose guitar playing style has amazed audiences all over Ireland and further abroad – as far away as the Russian countryside. Although still an unsigned talent, he has caught the attention of big names such as Nile Rodgers (Chic). Having started out initially playing Irish traditional music from a young age, Shane discovered the guitar at age 12. Inspired by listening to the music of James Taylor, he developed an interest in solo acoustic guitar after being pointed in the direction of Tommy Emmanuel, and rapidly became an avid fan and player of acoustic guitar music, citing players such as Clive Carroll, James Taylor, and Mark Knopfler, as well as Emmanuel and Rodgers, as his biggest influences. His style of music is difficult to explain in words; he calls it simply “fingerstyle” guitar. It encompasses virtually every genre of music – in his repertoire of music Shane performs everything from funk-driven blues to classically-touched jazz standards, with Irish traditional music, jazz manouche, and world influences thrown in the mix. “Watch Shane perform for the first time and you’ll feel like your brain is going to explode, you’ll be like ‘how does anyone do that? It’s so complex but so musical and so emotional, and that’s the beauty of what he does.” says Shawn Jones, acclaimed American singer-songwriter (Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson). At the young age of 21, Shane has already played in some of the most well-known venues in Ireland, and has been a featured performer in some of Ireland’s biggest festivals, including Electric Picnic, Longitude, The Guitar Festival of Ireland, The Inishowen International Guitar Festival, and is a favourite at Ireland’s numerous arts festivals (The Nighthawks, Dublin; Éigse). In the summer of 2013 Shane toured the UK, Denmark, Germany, and Russia on a summer-long tour, and has a busy intinerary for 2014, the highlight being a solo set on Sunday at the Longitude Festival, Marlay Park in July 2014. Shane has been featured in numerous write-ups such as the College Times Picnic Review 2013 and the Irish Times’ “The Ticket”. Shane has also been interviewed on RTÉ Radio One on “The Derek Mooney Show”, on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta and on local radio stations such as East Coast FM and KCLR FM. Shane is a Maton Guitars endorsee and has performed as a demo artist at Musikmesse Frankfurt in Germany, the world’s largest music trade show, on their behalf. He was also recently gifted a Shane Hennessy signature model guitar by Kibin Guitars, Belarus. Shane’s debut album will be available from November 2014, and he is looking forward to releasing it, as well as focusing more on his songwriting in 2015.
