WhelansLive is proud to present a celebration of new Irish music. Every Tuesday will see the upstairs venue play host to a series of the best of new music this country has to offer. Three hand-picked bands showcase their originality, performance and amazingly fresh songwriting skills. It is a great opportunity to see the next round of Ireland’s unsung and unsigned.
Radio Friendlies are an independent alternative rock band who formed in 2010. Hailing from Rush, Co.Dublin. The band members are lead singer and guitarist Stevin King, drummer Dara Coleman, bassist Kevin Keane and Cillian Coleman on lead guitar. Their sound draws comparisons to 90’s style rock bands like Foo Fighters, Weezer and Nirvana while also mixing elements from bands such as The Beach Boys, The Beatles and The Kinks. Their first single entitled “Signs”, was a download success in Ireland, Germany and Mexico which resulted in touring Ireland, playing in the UK and a sold out headline show in Germany.
‘fret-melting guitar work and pounding drums……excellent bass work and a gutsy vocal……has thankfully slotted into his own groove and could be a real contender…..’ (Hotpress)
KILLER CEOL is a solo artist from Dublin who plays guitar, harmonica and tambourine in his live performances, but took charge of all the instruments on his debut album ‘KILLER’. He has received amazing reviews from Hotpress and has appeared on Radio Nova and RTÉ Raidio na Gaeltachta, as well as many other radio stations. In the past he has had the pleasure of supporting The Coronas, Aslan, Mundy, The Pat McManus band, Bipolar Empire and the Knights of Leon
KILLER CEOL’s music is in the acoustic/punk/rock genre and he has fifteen years experience in playing music. He is influenced by bands like U2, Green Day, Oasis, Mundy, Paddy Casey and Aslan to name but a few. He has travelled extensively with his music and has played all over the world: USA, Spain, Fuerteventura, Thailand, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. This musical journey has taught him how to entertain any crowd and has given him a confident stage presence. In 2011 KILLER CEOL decided it was time to record his debut album. Writing all the music and lyrics and playing all the instruments was a challenge but the rewards were immense! The reviews have been excellent and his song ‘The Magic Door’ was shortlisted in the ‘Hotpress/Arthur’s Day: Play on the Day Competetition 2011’
So…in return for a ‘like’ on the KILLER CEOL FACEBOOK PAGE you can take a complimentary copy of his debut album (which are dotted around the venue).
‘although singer/songwriters are ten a penny these days, occasionally a Goldmine of talent like this comes along’ (Irish unsigned.com)
