I DRAW SLOW
In Aid of MIRT Ireland
_ Main Venue _
“I Draw Slow are one of the most beguiling and singular acts currently on the circuit.” – Irish Independent
On Wednesday 10th December, Dublin roots band I Draw Slow will play a gig in aid of lifesaving blood cancer research in Whelan’s of Wexford Street. Tickets are priced at €25 and are available from whelanslive.com. All proceeds go to MIRT Ireland – The Mater Institute for Research and Therapy in Blood Health Innovation.
I Draw Slow invite you to join them for a very special evening to raise funds to support the ground-breaking work of Professor Peter O’ Gorman, Consultant Haematologist at the Mater Hospital, Dublin.
Peter is the pioneering Irish doctor who is fighting the system and winning, working to save the lives of Irish blood cancer patients.
Incredibly, Irish cancer patients are dying because lifesaving, non-invasive drug treatment is denied to them due to bureaucracy and red tape.
Two new cases of blood cancer are diagnosed every day in Ireland. In the past, Irish patients had to battle the system as well as the illness. Professor O’Gorman and his team looked beyond the Irish health system for answers and worked out a collaboration whereby Irish patients could participate in international drug trials at home in Ireland.
This proactive approach to patient care has doubled the survival rate of his patients in the last seven years. By reaching out to their fellow clinicians in the US, the MIRT team bring hope and health to Irish patients with cancer of the blood. So far 170 patients have participated in 32 blood cancer trials. These patients now have a fighting chance of beating the blood cancers – Multiple Myeloma, Leukaemia and Lymphoma.
This vital programme receives no state funding. This is a cause very close to the heart of I Draw Slow.
‘Irish people are dying because of our slow drug licensing system. Lifesaving drugs available in the US are not getting to us in time to save lives.’ – Professor O’Gorman.
Please join us on 10th December to help support this life-saving work for Irish blood cancer patients.
All proceeds from I Draw Slow’s event will be donated to support this important work.

Irresistible songs, joyful performances and a passion for tradition – I Draw Slow coaxes the past into the present with original tunes that draw from the best of Irish and American folk music.
The Irish quintet uses strings and vocals to create what has been described as a brand new sound, a“fully natural evolution” (Bluegrass Today U.S.) of Appalachian music and Irish traditional song writing.
All three albums have been critically acclaimed in Europe and the US’ where they are signed to the legendary label Pinecastle Records. The band is in year-round demand on the American festival network, having already played Merlefest, Greyfox, Rockygrass and Pickathon to name but a few. Don’t miss a chance to see I Draw Slow’s kinetic live performance when it comes your way.
Their latest recording, White Wave Chapel reached no 2 in the Irish charts. It was engineered by veteran Irish producer Brian Masterson (Planxty, The Chieftains, Van Morrison, Christy Moore, Norah Jones). The Sunday Times described simply it as ‘13 exquisite tracks’.
