HARBOURING OCEANS

plus support AILBHE REDDY LITTLE ONE ^ Upstairs ^ “Harbouring Oceans are on the cusp on stardom… Get ready to be impressed”Hotpress Magazine. Harbouring Oceans consists of childhood best friends Thomas Donoghue and Ken Farrell, brothers Geoff and Benedict Warner-Clayton, and lead singer Dan Pearson. After a decade of playing together across Ireland in some of the country’s biggest venues and festivals, the idea of Harbouring Oceans was born in December 2015. The sound of Harbouring Oceans takes a very loose, contemporary approach to genre boundaries, and a very exacting approach to songwriting and arrangement. The band incorporate elements from alt-pop, soul, jazz, and electronica into their rock foundations. Dan leads with emotive, soulful vocals. The rhythm section is anchored by Benedict’s muscular beats and Ken’s restless, inventive bass lines. Thomas’ guitar and Geoff’s keyboards weave throughout, jumping from jazzy chords to angular licks and lines. The band deliver their sound with prog-like dynamics, building from whispered ambience to towering noise and back. Harbouring Oceans are a band with focus, ambition and drive. In just over 6 months they have ratcheted up performances in some of the country’s most prestigious venues, including Cyprus Avenue in Cork, Whelan’s in Dublin, and ‘IMRO Venue of the Year’ the Set Theatre, Kilkenny. In July they broke onto the festival circuit in a big way with a slot at MCD’s Longitude Festival in Marlay Park. The band have also secured high profile support slots for the likes of Irish buzz band Wyvern Lingo and Virgin EMI signee Maverick Sabre, and have completed a joint-headline tour with London up-and-comers HAWK. Harbouring Oceans recorded their debut single ‘Enso’ in Windmill Lane Studio 1 and shot a filmed performance of the song in-studio. ‘Enso’ was released to high praise from Ireland’s blogosphere and launched in The Button Factory, Dublin, just four short months after their inception as a group.
