A new phenomenon on the Irish music scene, Grace Wilde are a North Co. Dublin based band showcasing the music of singer songwriter Audrey Fay. Although elements of jazz, blues, soul, folk and rock can be detected, the songs are highly original and the voice is stunning. Grace Wilde perform as an acoustic trio (two guitars and a cello) and as a five piece electric band. The full line up is Audrey Fay (vocals and guitar) Enda Duffy (guitar) Shane Fitzsimons (bass) Steve Hogan (drums/percussion) and a guest cellist, so far Vyvienne Long or Mary Barnecutt.
During 2013 Grace Wilde recorded Let Me In, a live acoustic album, due to be released later this year. It was engineered, recorded and produced by Tony Platt, a legendary UK producer, who has worked with such greats as Bob Marley, ACDC, Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy and The Boomtown Rats. Tony is now a frequent visitor to Dublin where he has started work on Grace Wilde’s first studio album which will feature the full electric band plus guests. The first four tracks were laid down at Grouse Lodge in December.
The expanded electric band played their first ever live gig at Whelan’s on 28th January and were surprised and delighted when Irish Times critic Siobhán Long and news photographer Dara Mac Dónaill showed up. A great picture and glowing write-up followed, and Grace Wilde was named The Ticket ‘Gig of The Week’.
Recent weeks have also seen air play on RTE Radio One’s Late Date and Roots Freeway, a live appearance on Newstalk’s Green Room and other media interest. The band are planning further gigs and festival appearances during 2014 and Audrey and Enda have recently been in London with Tony mixing the first four tracks of their second album at Air Studio’s Strongroom facility.
Grace Wilde’s first CD Let Me In will be released later this year.
