“Heart-tuggingly good” Johnnie Craig, Sunday Business Post “A master songwriter” Joe Breen, The Irish Times **** The Mirror, **** The Star, **** The Sunday Times Following on from the release of his universally acclaimed “Sunday Songs” album, Gavin Glass today announces a special show in Whelan’s of Wexford Street in Dublin, to launch the album, and wet the newborn’s head! Sunday Songs is Gavin’s most ambitious and honest record to date and features guest appearances from Mundy, Cathy Davey, Rhob Cunningham and violin virtuoso Lucy Wilkins of Tindersticks & Roxy Music fame. To date, Gavin has released three critically acclaimed solo albums, and has produced and played on countless Irish records over his twenty year career. He has toured and recorded alongside a range of Irish artists including Lisa Hannigan, Mundy, Jerry Fish, Cathy Davey and Declan O’Rourke to international acts such as Chas & Dave, and Garth Hudson (The Band). As a music director, Gavin has worked on projects as diverse as “We Could Be Heroes” a production that worked with young local bands from Munster and developed them into a professional house-band for an outdoor festival which featured some of Ireland’s top artists to the annual “Turning Pirate Mix Tape” which has performed to a sold out Vicar Street for the past six years. He recently completed his role as music director for John Carney’s highly anticipated motion picture “Sing Street”. A Weinstein Company production based on a teenage Dublin band set in the early 1980’s. In 2012 Gavin put together “The Grand Parade” a group of well known Irish artists for Today FM’s “Shave or Dye” campaign and co-wrote the campaign song “Start Again” which was a number one hit for the group and all proceeds went to the Irish Cancer Society. He set up and continues to run Orphan Recording Studios in Dublin, and has recorded The Young Folk, The Hot Sprockets, The Minutes, and The Eskies, among others.
