Wallfella brings his new EP The Coop is Full to life Upstairs in Whelan’s on 30 January 2026. Across the project, the Dublin artist maps the moment when life feels overcrowded with late nights, casual links and scene pressure, and what happens when he finally decides to close the door.
“The Coop” is the mental space he lets people and energy into – from cramped nights out and messy relationships to the noisy expectations of a small Irish Hip-Hop world. The songs move through temptation, conflict, self-neglect and creative doubt towards a quiet act of boundary-setting, where the shutters come down and access to that space changes. It is less a straight storyline and more a psychological map, tracking how someone slowly learns to protect their time, body and head.
A proud Northside writer with roots in O’Devaney Gardens, Wallfella is known for candid, working-class storytelling and a pen that sits between grit and reflection. His work homes in on mental health, masculinity and everyday survival, grounded in Dublin language and detail while speaking to listeners far beyond his own area. Already praised as “one of the most captivating voices in Irish Hip-Hop”, he continues to blur Hip-Hop, R&B and funk into something conversational, melodic and rooted.
For this special show, Wallfella will dive deep into The Coop is Full in an intimate setting. He is joined by long-time collaborators, Nealo and Flynn Johnson, whose own writing explores similar questions of identity, pressure and self-belief. Expect high energy, sharp lyricism, and a night that looks at chaos, coping and change with clear eyes.
