VENUS GRRRLS

plus support

Whelan’s Upstairs • Sat 19th April 2025

2024 has been a hell of a year for Leeds/Newcastle act VENUS GRRRLS. Not only did they release three storming singles to critical acclaim across press and radio, join Sprints on their SOLD-OUT ‘Letter To Self’ tour as main support, and make their debut festival performances at Reading & Leeds, Isle Of Wight and more but the band have rounded out this year by selling out the majority of their UK headline September tour where they partnered with stem cell transplant charity Anthony Nolan.

Looking forward to 2025, VENUS GRRRLS have announced new live dates for April next year. Heading to Ireland for the first time, the band will hit Whelans in Dublin on 19th April.

“GK GK GK GK QUOTE QUOTE QUOTE”

VENUS GRRRLS will head back to the UK for shows at London’s Oslo and Leeds’ Wardrobe on the 24th and 25th April for their biggest shows to date.

Ahead of their headline tour and performance at Reading & Leeds festival, VENUS GRRRLS released their spellbinding track “Darla” – recorded by Sugar House and mixed/mastered by Grammy-nominated Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Nova Twins) and released on the band’s own Beltayne Records via The Orchard. The release of Darla saw the Leeds/Newcastle-based coven continue their poetic storytelling against their thunderous yet delicate goth-grunge sound as established on previous singles “Bloodsick” and “Divine” earlier this year.

VENUS GRRRLS have enjoyed emphatic support from BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, Nels Hylton, Sian Eleri and Daniel P Carter, Radio X’s John Kennedy and praise from the likes of Kerrang!, Dork and Upset, Distorted Sound and DIY who hailed Divine as “…a glorious start to 2024 for the alt-rock group.”

Due to the whirlwind nature of the band’s momentum, VENUS GRRRLS have been spotlighted by the likes of The Independent, CLASH, Iggy Pop on BBC 6 Music, Guitar World, Ticketmaster, NARC, 101 Part Times Jobs Podcast, Yorkshire Evening Post amongst others. Lead singer GK was also the first guest on Upgrade Sounds with Nels Hylton in a two part interview which was released in February and available to watch here.

VENUS GRRRLS are GK/Grace Kelly (lead singer/rhythm guitarist), Hannah Barraclough (Bass), Eliza Lee (lead guitar), Grace Stubbings (synth) and Gabby Cooke (drums).
