“With a stunning vocal range and a theatrical bent, multi-instrumentalist Tracy Bruen blends indie folk with wistful blues to tug the heartstrings and inspire the mind. Let her rich and intriguing melodies take you away on a wave of sound and soul that is as original as it is lyrical.” Electric Picnic Official Brochure, Top Picks, 2014
Tracy Bruen, Galway’s Original Solo Artist of the Year 2015 (Galway Advertiser) plays with a group of well known local musicians. Her music combines a mixture of indie folk with hints of blues. A multi-instrumentalist and classically trained singer, Tracy engages a wide vocal range to explore the elements of the voice as an instrument in her songs. The musicians in her band come from from a wide variety of musical backgrounds, with each member bringing diversity and creativity to create a rich and interesting sound. and their sound is created with a combination of piano, guitars, ukulule, flute, drums, double bass, fiddle, banjo, synth, vocal harmonies and stories.
Together they have played at Electric Picnic, Body and Soul, Westport Festival and Sunflower Fest and and many well known venues across the country.
Their set at Body and Soul 2014 was described in the Irish Examiner as “excellent” and as one of the best of the lesser known acts at the festival. They also featured as a top pick in the Electric Picnic official brochure.
Tracy’s debut EP, “Play Outside the Lines”, released to critical acclaim last year, is available at http://www.tracybruen.bandcamp.com. Songs from her upcoming album have been featured on regional and national radio stations
“A voice of husky, whispery, and sky-reaching heights is unapologetically Kate Bush-like and the blend of hill-walking candle-lit voyaging and blues guitar make it both timeless and fitting with the current music trend.” We Plug Good Music
“Tracy’s music combines indie, folk, and blues; is infectious and rhythmic, while also being unapologetically quirky and left-field.” Galway Advertiser
