‘ENDLESS SUMMER’ EP LAUNCH
Whelan’s Upstairs • Tue 30th May 2023
The story of Dublin-based rock band Speakers is a tale of growing up, waiting patiently and finally, breaking free. Formed by schoolfriends Conor Kinsella, Alex Cregan, Joe Clarke and Conor Leon, the first ever full Speakers rehearsal took place in the back room of Kinsella’s house against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic in the summer of 2020. Early releases in 2021 consisted of material recorded both in-person and remotely, with the resultant recordings then produced by Kinsella. Fast forward to 2023 and the band have certainly been making up for lost time; with a 2022 performance at national festival Sea Sessions, a packed-out headline show in Dublin’s The Lighthouse in February 2023 and an invitation to record at one of Ireland’s most iconic recording studios Windmill Lane, 2023 is shaping up to be the year that Speakers finally take on the world. With a set boasting melodramatic pop-punk choruses, introspective indie and brooding alternative rock soundscapes, this plucky young band are ready to face into their biggest year yet. On May 30th, the band take their energetic live show to Whelan’s Upstairs for the first time for the launch of their debut EP, ‘Endless Summer’.
