Some One’s Sons are a traditional Irish folk band from Mullingar, in the heart of Ireland.

The young four-piece have quickly grown in popularity, due to their energetic performances of trad classics. The Sons are noted for their rich harmonies, charismatic and lively sets, while handling ballads with a delicate and passionate touch.

In 2022, they performed at Electric Picnic, on TG4 Live, at the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann, and at the inaugural Westmeath Bachelor Festival, supporting Gavin James, The Academic, Nathan Carter and the Whistlin’ Donkeys.

The Sons are set to headline gigs in 2023 at Whelans, Monroes Live, The Crown Live, Judge Roy Beans and The Stables. The Sons also be returning to The Westmeath Bachelor Festival, the Fleadh Cheoil and Electric Picnic. The band are in the process of recording their first EP, which will be released in 2023.

Some One’s Sons consists of Daniel Allen, Greg Dunne, Ray Purcell and Ger Dunne. They play an ensemble of instruments on stage, including Bouzouki, Bódhran, Guitar, Banjo, Tin Whistle and Bass Guitar.

Lead singers Daniel and Greg’ voices compliment each other beautifully in both ballads and upbeat tunes. Daniel’s voice blends sweet tones, reminiscent of the late Jim McCann, with an unrefined ruggedness, similar to that of Tom and Paddy Clancy. Greg commands a tenor that is both unique and yet timeless in nature, often compared with Luke Kelly and Tommy Makem.

Backed with the booming vocals of Ray and Ger, the band are heavily influenced by The Dubliners, The Clancy Brothers and The Mary Wallopers.
