smythy is the stage name of Indie Pop Artist Andrew Smyth. Hailing from Tipperary and currently based in Dublin, smythy is taking on the Irish music scene with his uniquely pop inspired indie sound. Taking inspiration from artists such as Her’s, Dayglow, Beach House, Alice Phoebe Lou and Arctic Monkeys, smythy crafts tunes that have a lo-fi indie feel bursting at the seams with catchy pop melodies that will have listeners singing along and eager to hear more.
smythy and his band of six have spent the past few years cultivating a powerful live sound. They have supported well known Irish artists including Big Sleep, Rowan, Dylan Flynn and the Dead Poets, Trophy Wife and Cormac Looby in iconic Irish venues such as Whelan’s, Róisin Dubh and The Soundhouse.
smythy has just finished recording his debut EP. Working alongside Dublin based producer James Smith, smythy and his band have recorded four indie pop tracks that will be released in the summer of 2023. The group have plans to perform in venues around the country as the tracks are released, starting with a single launch gig in Whelan’s on July 1st.
