Pierce Turner – GIGS !!!!. at last.
And……….New album coming.
The award winning Pierce Turner has a new album coming in March called ‘Terribe Beauty’, and to introduce it to the public he will be doing s series of new gigs. The first Dublin show since getting out Covid Prison, will be January 7th 2022 at the legendary Whelan’s of Wexford Street Dublin. The Irish Times said this about Pierce Turner at Whelan’s “Clambering across the tables to screams of adoration, Turner breaks down the barrier between audience and performer, and really renders himself naked” Pierce’s gigs at Whelan’s are legendary, expect to hear some of these great new songs, plus the Turner classics.
Written over a 4 year period, ‘Terrible Good’ marks a change of direction for Pierce Turner. Recorded in his adopted home of New York City and produced by fellow Irishman Gerry Leonard (Bowie, Rufus Wainwright) Turner wanted to delve into something unknown, and to indulge himself in feeling “the fright of being lost” in order to find what might grow from that experience. The result is a “New York edgy guitar album.” It is also an album of musical playfulness, of beautiful orchestral interludes, of quiet choral moments, that offer the audience a connection with or meditation on love, friendship, immigration, the need for resilience against hard times and mortality.
This New York album, this guitar album, this edgy album, is a Pierce Turner album. Like its creator, it flits back and forth between New York and Wexford. It keeps an eye on sky and ground and sea.
