NO AUDIO DIALOGUE

NO AUDIO DIALOGUE or “NAD” are a 3 piece from Dublin. Fronted by singer and guitarist Stephen Walker, of previous Saccade fame. The rhythm section is made up of Ciaran McCreary on bass and Gary Vitagliano on drums.

Self-described as “indie rock pop” the group have previously released the album “Do you hedgehog?” – 2018 and a selection of singles. 2021 sees NO AUDIO DIALOGUE emerging from lockdown with a novel approach to releasing new material. A collection of four standalone singles dealing with tragedy, division, love and hope all with accompanying videos.

Release:
NORTHSIDE SOUTHSIDE (single two in the series) is the follow-up to last month’s single SLIDEAWAY which could be heard on both local and national air waves (also gaining a much coveted RTE’s playlist spot). NORTHSIDE SOUTHSIDE as the title suggests, deals with the themes of division and remorse. Described as a punchy, harsh upfront look at the band’s hometown. NORTHSIDE SOUTHSIDE shows a much more edgy side of the group. NORTHSIDE SOUTHSIDE as with all material in this series of singles has been written / self-recorded / mixed and produced by the band. The band plan to release each single a month apart, with live performances to follow the easing of COVID restrictions.

PIGEON MILLERS

Pigeon Millers recorded their debut album ‘The Onlooker’s Redemption’ during lockdown 2020. It’s about a person who’s become a darker version of themselves and their journey to get back to being someone they recognize. It’s a journey they hope to keep hidden from others.

“We’re quite low key ourselves so could relate to someone going through turmoil without expressing it. Everybody sees the confident, competent people. As songwriters we’re quite drawn to the characters in the background, the people who aren’t making all the noise. We wanted the atmosphere of the music to feel that way too”.

Pigeon Millers’ Doug Sheridan and Paddy Lyons first shared a stage in Whelan’s in 2010. They weren’t in the same band that night, but they went on to play drums and guitar together in The Matinee Idles. “We were all over the place but the music was great, lots of energy. Unfortunately the main singer/songwriter committed the heinous crime of falling in love and moved off to England”.

Some years of sporadic recording and performances followed for the band members, both together and in other groups. “We’re the sum of our parts I suppose… we’re bringing past influences and interactions with us and the band we are today reflects those”.

But the past is the past, what about the future?

“We love playing live, we really want to do as much of that as we can. There are so many stories from a live performance, the ones from the stage, the audience, the before and the after. If there’s another pandemic we might even get a second album out!”.

And why bother with any of this at all?

“Our goal is to improve at our craft and chase down those magical accidents that can happen in music. Of course we want as many people to connect with the music as possible, as long as that comes about in the right way. In our society we’ve conditioned ourselves to monetise enjoyment or anything we’re good at. If we miss out on some streams/likes/followers because we were too busy playing our guitars, then that’s ok with us. Success is something but creating is everything ”
