NAIMEE COLEMAN & GERR WALSH
Whelan’s Upstairs • Sat 27th July 2024
Fresh from spending 3 weeks on the RTE radio 1 recommends list, Naimee Coleman is set to play her first live show at Whelans since the release of her latest album “The Edges’. The album and its 3 singles all reached number 1 on the Irish Itunes charts. “The Edges’ is a stark departure from her springboard sound. It features collaborations from drummer Adam Marcello (Brandie Carlisle, Sara Bareilles), guitars from Steve Mazur of the Canadian grunge band ‘Our Lady Peace’ and guest vocals from Paul Noonan and long time collaborator Gemma Hayes.
Naimee signed with EMI records in her late teens, and went on to record her debut album ‘Sliver Wrists’ at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. For her follow-up, ‘Bring Down The Moon’ Coleman worked with Tears For Fears’ keyboardist Ian Stanley, creating a blend of singer-songwriter pop that propelled her into a whirlwind few years.
Gerr Walsh can often be heard singing on the airwaves on shows by RTE Radio 1 DJs John Creedon, Fiachna ó Braonáin and Lilian Smith. He has been releasing his own brand of Indie Folk Pop since 2017 with his debut EP ‘Prevailing Winds’ and more recent album ‘Ghosts of Hope & Magic’. Tony Clayton Lea gave the album a very warm review in The Business Post describing it as “FLUID, CINEMATIC & SEDUCTIVE” comparing it to Elbow and The Blue Nile.
Between playing with artists such as Joe Chester, Max Greenwood and Gemma Hayes Gerr has been writing and recording new songs for 2024 with a new album to follow.
