Lifts are a 5-piece post-rock/art-rock/post-punk-adjacent band from Dublin, but they go beyond the typical post-punk act in taking influence from a wide range of sources like contemporary classical music, jazz, and folk in order to create a more expressive, unique sound. Their atypical line-up includes violin, guitar, keys, vocals, drums and a unique instrument built by the band, which is played like a violin but sounds in a lower bass register in a cross between the sound of a cello and a rich subharmonic synthesiser. After only three months of activity, Lifts have released three singles and played many gigs across Ireland.
