Vona Groarke • Tolü Makay • Jan Brierton
Whelan’s Main Venue • Tue 6th January 2026
Known as Nollaig na mBan, Women’s Christmas or Little Christmas, come celebrate January 6th with us at Whelan’s. We have curated what will be a wonderful evening of music, poetry and fun featuring three very talented Irish artists that reflect this cherished tradition.
Vona Groarke is Ireland’s Professor of Poetry (2025-28). Her latest book, Infinity Pool, has been shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Poetry Prize 2025. She has been described in Poetry Ireland Review as ‘one of the best writers in Ireland today’. Tolü Makay is a singer-songwriter well known for her fusion of alternative pop and soul, creating empowering anthems of growth and self-discovery. Poet Jan Brieton’s signature combination of humour, wit and poignancy both celebrates and uplifts women. It is poetry for the people.
Together they will perform a dynamic mix of poetry and music at the iconic Whelan’s venue.
