Charles James & The Rise are a cinematic folk band from Donegal, Ireland. Musically the band is influenced by the darker side of folk and the more haunting elements of choral music.
Recent highlights include being named Highland Radio’s winner in Hot Press’ A New Local Hero in 2023, playing shows across Ireland as well as Austin, Texas and receiving regional and national airplay. 2024 single Carry On was named Hot Press’ Track of the Day upon release and also saw the band named one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s (ES) 20 Artists You Should Know.
2025 kicked off with a showcase at Your Roots Are Showing festival and the release of their latest single, Greatest Prize. The band are currently touring their debut album with headline shows in Whelans, Dublin and Bennigans, Derry coming up in July.
Becoming known for pairing their cinematic sound with ambitious visuals, the Greatest Prize music video was named a winner at the recent Kinsale Shark Awards 2025.
Charles James and The Rise’ debut album is due out in September 2025.
