Whelan’s Upstairs

Akrobat are excited to announce their debut show in Whelan’s on March 18th.

Akrobat is not your typical band. Avant-garde and experimental, they move between overlapping genres and sounds with agility, from left-field to mainstream to somewhere in between. Their debut album “Jammed Space Movement” was released in late 2022 to great acclaim and blended elements of indie, garage, electronica, new-wave punk, funk and jazz, but with a harmonious sound.

The band thrive on authenticity and versatility; music that soothes and enchants one minute, and beckons you to dance the next. Gliding from Leonard Cohen-cool, infectious pop, then kinetic, peppy tracks to rock out to.

This show also marks the arrival of a new and exciting band line-up, and will premiere songs from an anticipated EP “Shank”, that is set to be released in April 2023.

“An exciting addition to the thriving alt-music scene, Akrobat are redefining the interface between music and art with their unique exploration of new styles and genres” – Hot Press

“deserve your attention (and ears)” – Beats per minute

“a wonderfully sprawling, genre-spanning effort” – The Thin Air

“future gems” – Irish Times

“avant-garde, genre defying debut”” – Totally Dublin
