FLOWERS FOR PALESTINE – ADAM O’RUA
plus support
Abood Aladham & GNS
Whelan’s Upstairs • Tue 8th October 2024
If you’ve been to an Adam O’Rua gig, you know it’s about more than just the music. It’s about community, memory, and, in this case, solidarity. It’s that same spirit of connection that Adam is bringing to Whelan’s Upstairs on October 8th, where he’ll headline a special night of music in solidarity with Palestine. The show is more than just a performance—it’s a moment for people to come together, reflect, and act. In keeping with that personal touch, he’s asking attendees to bring flowers in the colours of the Palestinian flag—red, green, white, or black—if they have them growing in their gardens.
Adam, fresh off the back of his first international tour for his second EP, The Garden, will be playing alongside a still-to-be-announced lineup of supporting acts. There will be moments of delicate introspection and flashes of groove and movement, as always.
The profits from the night, including the sale of Adam’s self-made merchandise, will go directly to Medical Aid for Palestinians, an organisation working to provide crucial healthcare to those most in need. For Adam, it’s a cause that resonates deeply, intertwining music and action, reflecting the communal, connected energy he’s become known for in Dublin’s vibrant scene.
Expect an intimate and raw performance, filled with unreleased demos from his upcoming third EP THE TREE – a project born out of reflection and change. And this night, like so many of his shows, will hold space for the unexpected—improvised moments that draw the audience in, turning the room into something more than just a venue.
Adam will be joined on the night by two incredibly talented artists.
