“….Kennedy delivers in spades on the emotional front. He is a worthy performer who deserves to be taken seriously.” – Jackie Hayden, Hotpress
Dermot Kennedy is a young alt-folk musician hailing from the foothills of the Wicklow mountains.
Having set out on the path of a solo artist last September, Dermot has since played sold out shows in Dublin’s Unitarian Church and The Workman’s Club, and was also invited by Glen Hansard to step on stage and play one of his own songs at Glen’s show in Vicar Street to a full house last December. Dermot has now announced a very special intimate show this November Upstairs @ Whelans.
With his songs of beauty, heartache and hope, Dermot captivates and holds his audience, and what you hear in his voice is unmistakable honesty. His songs are laden with imagery and crafted with passion, and delivered with a soulful and stirring vocal.
Dermot’s soulful voice coupled with the clear poetic lyrics of his songs gives him a powerful sound. Dermot – best known for his Youtube channel – has grown dramatically with his intriguing cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”, which features him performing on Dublin’s city streets. This cover has resulted in huge interest both internationally and at home.
Check out Dermot’s incredible cover of Sam Smith’s ‘Stay with Me’.
