‘Corner Boy’ are a 5 piece folk rock band hailing from the South-East of Ireland.
In February 2013 they released their debut E.P ‘Morning, Morning’ to critical acclaim.
‘Morning, Morning’ is a breath of fresh air to the Irish folk scene and ensures a future of progressive folk in Ireland that breaks away from the slightly out-dated traditional folk scene. ‘Corner Boy carries the light of tomorrow’s folk sound. – M.R.U Magazine (Feb, 2013)
‘Exuberant. It’s hand clapping, foot stomping stuff with more rousing choruses than a pub full of balled singers. Rootsier down-home baroque folk of the fleet foxes variety’. – Hotpress magazine (May, 2013)
‘Wexford nu-folk outfit Corner Boy have garnered themselves a well-earned reputation as Ireland’s answer to Mumford and Sons and the Lumineers. In truth, Michael D’Arcy and co. offer so much more’ – Hotpress Magazine (June 2013)
In September 2011, Corner Boy (a.k.a Lead singer Michael D’Arcy) moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Here he started writing what would then become Corner Boy’s debut release ‘The ‘Morning Morning E.p’. The E.P is a 5 track song book that tells of a life living on the road travelling around North America. Michael returned to Ireland and in February 2013, and released his debut record.
