Champagne Animal host a night in aid of ‘Dogs in Distress’

+   Comedy from Gerry McBride

Fresh from being shortlisted in the ‘Hotpress Lift Off Competition’, Champagne Animal are quickly becoming one of irelands most exciting unsigned bands.

They formed a year ago after members met through The Dublin Gospel Choir. The unique, yet accessible, sound of Champagne Animal stems from their eclectic tastes and experiences in music, which range from rock to gospel, pop to classical. This broad spectrum of styles results in a sound which is fresh, punchy and emotionally charged.

While they have been together for just around a year, they have managed to pack in a lot and have secured themselves some much sought after slots, such as appearances at The Ruby Sessions, The Sunday Roast, Balcony TV, Whelans and The Workman’s Club, and were especially grateful to end 2010 on a high when they were asked to support Fight Like Apes in the Village at The Phantom New Year’s Eve Ball.

Finishing off 2011 with great success with the release of their debut E.P ‘Champagne & Skittles, which was selected by Jackie Hayden as his ‘Pick of the Fortnight’ for Hotpress Magazine (22/09/11). She’s a Beauty are fresh out of the studio and set for the vigorous task that will be 2012.

Scheming away for the past few months She’s a Beauty intend to take a different approach for the year ahead. Throughout the year the band will be making multiple releases all which will be done on USB Keys which will be available at launch gigs over the year. At each gig Fans will be able to update their stick with the latest release and will also get bonus material to boot, such as bonus songs, videos, pictures and more.

Della, a singer/songwriter from Ashbourne Co. Meath has had many comparisons made to female artists such as “a sultryfied Randy Crawford”, but the one that perhaps best describes the singer with her deeply expressive tones and passionate delivery “Joni Michell meets Nina Simone”, Ryan Tubridy. Della is inspired by several genres of music which is evident in her work. She is as much at home singing the blues as she is singing Jazz to contemporary and Funk, but most definitely sings from the soul.
