would like to invite you to the launch of their single ‘Prison Robes’ taken from their latest EP ‘Roots’ in Whelans upstairs at 8PM, October 21st.
Formed in 2014, CARRON began merely as a creative outlet for sisters Méabh and Mella Carron to record harmonious duets of their favourite songs for family and friends. Coming from a musical theatre background, they wanted to explore using their voices in different genres and styles, in particular traditional Irish and American Folk music. Drawing influence from both classic acts such as Fleetwood Mac and The Corrs, and newer bands like Little Green Cars and Hozier, they aim to combine a contemporary Celtic-folk sound with elements of pop from numerous generations.
CARRON released their debut EP ‘Roots’ in April 2016 to stellar reviews from The Last Mixed Tape and Pure M Magazine, awarding it ‘Best EP 2016’, and featured on John Barker’s ‘Totally Irish’, Jim Carroll’s ‘On The Record’, and Spin 103.8’s ‘Plan B’. Recent performances including The Ruby Sessions and Whelan’s Summer Watch have seen their live show mature, resulting in a more refined and developed sound.
Their latest single ‘Prison Robes’ explores the changing relationship between sisters – a recurring theme throughout ‘Roots’ – in dealing with a family illness together.
CARRON’s ‘Prison Robes’ tour kicks off on October 12th in Cork, with dates in Belfast, Limerick, Galway, London, Dublin to follow.
