BITE THE KILLER CAT

Since BTKC started gigging in late 2011 we’ve supported great acts such as Bipolar Empire in Athlone. In March 2012 we played our own headline show in the PassionFruit Theatre Athlone and we played at the Helium Festival in Ballymahon on the same bill as Ash, Delorentos, Duke Special and many more. We are supporting Le Galaxie in the Palace Loft, Athlone on the 25th of January. We are going into Lakeland Studios, Glasson, Athlone to record tracks and intend to have a CD launch during the summer.

HALF STATE

Half State are 3 piece hard rock/blues band made up David Singleton, Ronan “Chip” McCann and Jimmy Morgan. They have been together for 5 years, gigging on and off in various venues around Dublin. Unfortunately, each member is disgracefully lazy and so they’re only getting around to actually promoting themselves now. Due to bizarre financial irregularities, they only recently managed to record most of their material. Since they’re all finished college for the minute and have nothing better to do with their time, they have decided to unleash their particular brand of rock and roll on the unsuspecting (some would say privileged) people of Dublin. Energetic, loud and ugly, Half State are an unforgettable act who are (finally) ready to leave their mark on the music scene. Their music can be heard on either:

NEXT IN LINE

Next In Line is a young four piece original indie/pop/rock band from the musical village of Prosperous which is situated in the north of Kildare.
The band started out as a trio but decided to recruit close friend and guitarist Gavin Crowe after they felt they needed a more full sound. Gavin agreed and for the last year they four school friends have put on some amazing gigs at places like Whelan’s, The Roost and King Kong Club on more than one occasion. They have spent the last couple of months writing some material and are now ready to take 2013 by storm. The aim is for the band to gig as often as the can this year. They have a strong fan base in the Dublin/Kildare area and are ready to add to that. We promote all our gigs on Facebook, Twitter and The Indie. We make up posters and put
them around the colleges we attend. We also have now started to send some posters to the venues we be playing at.
Next In Line have had their song “Don’t Stop” played online in
Ireland, Canada and USA. This has resulted in their twitter page gaining followers from across the pond.
In the band is Daniel Byrne, he is the vocalist and the band’s
songwriter. The lead guitarist is Gavin Crowe. On bass is Phil Lowry and on drums Shane Merriman.

THE REVERSE

The Reverse are an enigmatic indie folk/rock four-piece band, with a sound ranging from acoustic guitars and harmonicas with heartfelt stories of optimism, to bluesy electric guitars
and back-alley tales of betrayal. The Reverse have quickly become regarded as one of the most promising and prolific acts to emerge from the Irish music scene in recent years.

The Reverse originally cut their live performance and songwriting teeth as an acoustic duo, formed in
2009, and comprised of singer/songwriters Richard O’Gorman and Sean McKeown. Having played throughout pubs and venues nationwide for a year and a slot at Indiependence festival in 2010, they decided to expand their sound. The addition of bassist Robert Goode and drummer Ian Murphy meant Richie and Sean could take their already diverse songwriting skills into whole new genres. Keeping the
formula of two frontmen, the band launched into writing and recording new material.

Musically, the guys take inspiration from a very wide array of sounds. Richie, who’s poetic, introspective lyrics and sweet singing voice, reminiscent of Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney, tie in well with Sean’s grandiose approach to performance, inspired by the likes of Kings Of Leon and Foo Fighters. The fresh and inventive drumming of Ian Murphy and the melodic, ensnaring bass playing of Robert Goode top it
off, to provide the truly unique and individual sound of The Reverse.

In the time that has passed since the Cork based four-piece was established, they have been gigging extensively around Ireland and the U.K., singed a management deal, were heavily booked for the 2012 festival circuit, have performed numerous guest support slots, played the Share A Dream concert in the
RDS in Dublin, and also released their debut single “Jack & Jill” in July, which subsequently charted at No. 3 in the iTunes singer/songwriter charts.

They also sang on the charity single ‘Tiny Dancer’ (no. 1 in the Irish charts), along with a string of Irish headline artists including Paddy Casey, Mary Black, Declan O’Rourke, John Spillane, Mundy, Tom Dunne, The Riptide Movement, Bipolar Empire, Liam Ó’Maonlaí, and lots more, and also performed this single live on the Late Late Show on RTE1. The Reverse are definitely a band to watch out for in 2013, as this promising young band quickly garner more and more attention both at home and abroad.
