The Tried & Treasured Tour
^ Upstairs ^
Barry Jay Hughes is returning to Whelan’s after a busy 2015, which consisted of his debut EP release, an extensive Irish tour including supporting some of Ireland’s biggest artists such as Paddy Casey, Jack L, Cry Monster Cry, Gavin Glass and Hudson Taylor and winning second place in the Searchlight Productions “War at the Button” contest.
Following the huge success of his debut “This Way Up”, receiving critical acclaim from music blogs and comprehensive radio play, Barry toured the length and breadth of Ireland, featuring many radio and TV appearances.
A classically trained musician who has been playing music since the age of 12, Barry Jay has perfectly carved his own style of rhythmic folk with an alternative rock edge.
In August, Barry Jay bet 35 other acts to secure second place in The Searchlight Productions “War at the Button” contest, winning studio recording time in the famous Sun Studios. He has used this time to record the eagerly anticipated follow-up EP “Tried & Treasured”
Barry Jay is kicking off his nationwide tour of the EP which will be launched in April. With plans of a European tour in the pipeline and a core American fan base, he is sure to have a very successful year both at home and abroad.
Make sure to catch Barry Jay Hughes in Whelan’s on May 18th before he takes off internationally.
