BARRY JAY HUGHES
Rhythmic Folk – Alternative Rock – Powerful Vocal
As a songwriter, Barry Jay Hughes has what it takes to bring his audience on a journey. As a performer he gives you everything an acoustic folk/rock artist should: Passion – Honesty – Raw Talent.
Barry Jay Hughes returns to Whelans after a very successful show in the upstairs venue back in May of this year that left the room amazed at the talent and energy of this hard working singer songwriter who only hit the Irish music scene in a serious way back in March of 2013
He’s had a busy few months since the release of his second studio EP ‘Tried & Treasured’.
An extensive Irish tour followed the release in late April and Barry Jay has not stopped since then, playing venues in Donegal, Belfast, Galway, Limerick, Cork, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Wicklow as well as holding up residency gigs around his native Co. Monghan and supporting some of Ireland’s biggest artists such as Paddy Casey, Jack L, Cry Monster Cry, Gavin Glass and Hudson Taylor and more.
Barry Jay describes his sound as eclectic folk/rock with a mix of his own energetic guitar playing, Cello, Piano, Percussion and lots more on stage to bring his songs to life, some of which were written as early as 1999.
