CALL THE DANCERS

Ronan Ó Snodaigh, Eoin Dillon & friends. 7-9pm – FREE – WHELAN’S BAR – Facebook event “Whelans First Ever Regular Trad Session” Believe it or not Whelan’s has never hosted a regular trad session. No one knows quite why but what we do know is what we want ‘Call The Dancers’ to achieve. There’s a clue in the name. Trad geeks may recognise ‘Call The Dancers’ as a battle cry issued on ‘I gCnoc na Graí / In Knocknaree’ a live album by Tony McMahon and Noel Hill from 1985 that captures the spirit and passion we humbly hope to take a stab at generating. Call The Dancers is where Rónan Ó Snodaigh and Eoin Dillon and friends will share the tunes they love. They’ll be sharing them with each other and with the dancers, drinkers and groovers who cross Whelans threshold each Tuesday for the next three months. This will be blistering. It will ooze the excitement of our glorious music and bring it to the world with the force it deserves. Call The Dancers is for and by people who adore trad and can’t get enough of it. We’ll be updating who the guests are when we know. Sometimes we will know in advance, sometimes we won’t.

AFTER THE GIG

Whelan’s Silent Disco, now every Mon, Tue & Wed from 11pm – 2 DJs, just pick the one you like best [Free Entry] plus Late Bar.

Playing his first full band show with a set of stellar musicians, including ex lead guitarist of Enrique Iglesias and Mr. North, Nousom Knots is releasing his third video & single ‘Horizons’.
His Debut ‘Landslide (Dublin Town)’, hit 10,000+ views on Facebook in the first 48 hrs of its release. It has been receiving considerable airplay and significant accolades from some of Ireland’s top DJ’s.
The 2nd Single release, ‘Midnight‘ was released May 4, 2017. It is an epic rock/pop ballad of Love & Loss. Here’s what the Irish Press are saying:
  •  “This is glorious stuff.” – Danny McElhinney (Music Journalist for Irish Mail on Sunday)
  •  “This is pretty fine” – Olaf Tyaransen (Senior Editor Hotpress)
  •  ‘Song of the Day’ May 4th (Joe.ie)
  • “Great Track” (Dave Moore – Today FM)
  • “Nousom Knots has served up a lively anthem you can expect to hear pouring out of windows throughout the summer.” (Remy’s Musicfilmblog).
Trained in both classical and Jazz, he established a solid groundwork in solo live performance by gigging throughout Ireland and in Paris, France over the last couple of years. This first batch of recordings was mixed and co-produced in New York by Oisin O’Maille, who has co-produced work with Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads. He performed at this years ‘I Heart Bowie’ Tribute concert at the Opium Rooms Venue in Dublin on Jan 7th. Guests last year included Glen Hansard & Bell X 1.
