GREEN FOLLOWS EP RELEASE WITH FULL-BAND WHELANS GIG
Cathryn Green is set to follow the recent release of her EP, The Apple, with a series of live gigs starting at Whelan’s in Dublin on Wednesday, October 29.
Dublin is in the midst of a start-up boom. Throughout the city, in basements, spare rooms and attic offices, young Dubliners are huddled in front of their computers, planning world domination with their latest business idea.
Announces brand new album “The Man Who Came in from the Dark” – Release date: Oct 31st
////////
This October the acclaimed Irish Singer and Songwriter John Spillane, celebrates 33 years of an ever-consistent vastly illuminating and exciting career within the world of music.
Rachel Ries makes a welcome return to Ireland this October with dates with Anais Mitchell (USA) and Tom Terrell (CAN). The tour kicks off on 28th October in Whelan’s and sees Rachel play Cork, Dingle, Clonakilty, Roscrea, Kilkenny, Galway and Ballydehob- where she filmed the video for her new single “Standing Still” with Joseph O’Leary (Fred) earlier this year.
First Watch ‘Standing Still’ feat Joseph O’Leary
During Rachel’s last Irish tour she shot the video for ‘Standing Still’ on location in Levis’ Corner House, Ballydehob featuring Joseph O’Leary. Shot by Ambiguous Fiddle last May, the historical 100-year-old village pub, which has seen Nick Cave, Kevin Costner, Jeffrey Irons behind the bar over the years, provided the perfect backdrop to the second single to be taken from Rachel’s record “Ghost of a Gardener”.
Daughter of Mennonite missionaries, Rachel Ries hails from the inspiring, vast expanses of South Dakota, by way of Zaire. Her formative years were filled with Congolese spirituals, Mennonite hymns and her mom singing her to sleep with The Carpenters. Currently splitting her time between rural Vermont and New York City, this year saw Ries return from a years-long hiatus with her third long player, Ghost of a Gardener.
Ghost of a Gardener has been warmly received across North America and Europe by the likes of UNCUT, NPR, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Exclaim and Daytrotter. Rachel Ries (“reese”) has recorded with Anais Mitchell, Gregory Alan Isakov(feat. on “Ghost of a Gardener”), Jeremy Messersmith and through extensive touring with Anais Mitchell, toured supporting Bon Iver and others. She was granted a Chicago Arts award in 2010, worked in Chicago theatre, toured Europe and the States, learned how to repair Wurlitzers and (kind of) play the drums
Canadian Tom Terrell is making his Irish debut this October bringing his tales or real life rambling, gambling and heartbreak across the country in support of his debut self-titled record, out on 24th October.
Terrell was born and bred on west coast of Canada and migrated east to Nova Scotia in 2009. He has toured extensively in Canada and US.
Influenced by artists like Tom Waits, John Prine, Greg Brown and composers such as Oscar Peterson and Beethoven, Terrell produces a flavour that is modern and nostalgic.

“Jet Setter are following up their debut single ‘Not Yet’ with another 2 minutes full of hooks and great guitars called ‘Dippin’ Toes’. The four-piece, signed to Dublin’s Any Other City label (Girl Band, Villagers), have received praise from both sides of the Atlantic for ‘Not Yet’ and its flipside ‘Cut Shorts’. From their first practice onwards Jet Setter realised how good it feels to play straight-to-the-point, fuzzy Indie-Rock, which translates organically into their live show. ‘Dippin’ Toes’ is released on October 17th, complemented with an Irish and UK tour. ”
“The pushy zeal of Smashing Pumpkins…Recalls Graham Coxon at his late-90s best” – NME (Buzz Band of The Week)

Lauren Shera’s DigSin debut Gold and Rust marks the distinguished national bow of a literally prodigious singer-songwriter who, having spent half of her young life as a professional musician, is now destined to capture the national spotlight.
“The ambience, groove and melody here proves irresistible. One of the great albums of 2014.” 8/10 – Clash
“Mulvey is very much his own man on this highly intriguing debut” 4/5 – Q
“[a] mesmerising debut…A lovely, rewarding record.” 5/5 The Telegraph
Following a stunning set at Electric picnic Nick Mulvey has announced a headline show in Whelans on the 9th of December. Tickets priced at €15 go on sale this Friday at 9am from ticketmaster.
Nick Mulvey releases a new single, Cucurucu, on the 22nd September through Fiction Records and supports Elbow at London’s iTunes Festival on 12th September.
The Summer of 2014 has remained as ever fruitful for Nick Mulvey as this his breakthrough year has already been for him, and he returns to arguably the song that broke him, his most infectious and most ‘pop’ moment to date, Cucurucu.
Having filled the tents to bursting point, and commanded huge audiences to festival crowds throughout the Summer, from Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage to Green Man and with a Bestival appearance still to follow, Nick Mulvey’s 2014 promises much more from what has already been a hugely eventful first eight months.
Cucurucu is immediate in the sense that the melody lingers, and the beat, typically of Nick’s music, shuffles infectiously. The lyrics borrow, in part, from DH Lawrence’s poem, ‘The Piano’. It is one of the defining moments from his critically acclaimed Top 10 album, First Mind.
Nick Mulvey’s Irish dates:
9th December – Whelans, Dublin
10th December – The Limelight Belfast
11th December – Triskel, Christchurch Cork
