LORCAN JAMES
Lorcan James is an emerging Irish artist, originally from Co. Meath, now living in Dublin. He first travelled to Mexico in 2003 and would spend a good deal of time there over the next number of years. The sounds there enriched his musical palette as a songwriter. Blended with other influences from the U.S., it would lead to a distinctive Pop/Rock sound emerging in his debut EP, entitled ‘Buried Alive’. A meeting with musician Utku Sarper would prove timely. Along with sound engineer and producer Ger McDonnell (U2, Martha Wainwright, Manic Street Preachers), they provided additional production on the EP.
Despite some changes in the line-up over the years, Lorcan has now established an experienced and loyal band with Andre Luiz on lead guitar, Benz Kristopher on drums/backing vocals and Utku Sarper on bass. In 2010 Lorcan James and his band had the priviledge to play at the reknowned 100 Club in London and in May 2011 played at the final of the Spanish Tennis Open in Madrid. July 2011 saw Lorcan James named ‘Next Big Thing’ in U Magazine and’Artist of the Month’ in Music Review Unsigned. In the same month the official ‘Buried Alive EP launch’ sold-out at Whelans. In September 2011 he was runner-up in the Bulmer Berry ‘An Undergrowth Movement ’ competition in association with Hotpress. In December 2012 Lorcan James has been nominated along the Best Alternative/Rock category in the first MRU Awards event, organized by Music Review Unsigned Magazine. Lorcan James has since performed on Newstalk‘s ‘Shenanigans with Sile’, TG4 and Near FM. ‘Irresistibly radio-friendly… Impressive.’ Hotpress ‘Next Big Thing’ U Magazine – July Edition ‘Artist Of The Month’ MRU Magazine – July Edition ‘Lorcan James’ blend of pop-rock and folk is steadily making waves’ Shilpa Ganatra – The Star Newspaper ‘This year could see Lorcan James break through to the big time’ Evan Short – Meath News and Sport ‘If I was to put a label on Lorcan James I would sum it up in one word, superb!’ Trevor Halpin – Music Review Unsigned ‘Having his own set of unique and distinctive songs, there are big things ahead for Lorcan James’ Mark Walsh – Cheers Magazine ‘U.S. Radio potential’’ Safta Jaffery – CEO of Taste Music (Former manager of Muse) “____________

FEAT. NORMAN BLAKE OF TEENAGE FANCLUB & JOE OF PERNICE BROTHERS

GARY FITZPATRICK
We’re delighted to announce the debut Irish performance of The New Mendicants, a new project from Norman Blake of Teenage Fanclub and Joe Pernice of Pernice Brothers. They are currently working on an album for release later this year. Along with new material, their live sets include Teenage Fanclub & Pernice Brothers classic and the odd cover. Check them out:
Finding you (Go-Betweens) & Follow me down Everything FlowsFinding themselves new neighbors in Canada, Glasgow- born Norman Blake and Joe Pernice from Massachusetts began a low-key collaboration in a Toronto tavern. Their performances were marked by plenty of banter, open-tunings and sublime pop smarts. Now they bring their two-man show to the UK and Europe under the guise of
The New Mendicants. Two of the most sublime and revered songwriters of the ‘90’s, Blake and Pernice between them have founded Teenage Fanclub, Scud Mountain Boys, BMX Bandits and Pernice Brothers. Performing together on stage, they delve into each other’s hefty back catalogues as well as their new material. They are currently working on a full length album which they expect to release later this year.

“You know a band is good when at the end of their sound check the audience starts clapping” New Paltz Cultural Collective
The band’s Eastern European sound is sort of a mix between Gypsy rock big guns DeVotchKa and Gogol Bordello. They’ve got the very ethnic sound of the former, and though they play fast, it’s not at the manic punk level of the latter. The phrase “foot-stompin'” also is apt, as their original and traditional pieces have a way of making people move. Reno Retro Mix

Two of Northern Ireland’s most acclaimed emerging artists David C. Clements and Farriers have today been announced to play two special hand-crafted gigs as part of the global whiskey and music festival – BUSHMILLS LIVE (June 19th-20th).
Taking place on Thursday 6th June in Whelan’s Dublin and Thursday 13th June in White’s Tavern, Belfast – ‘ Bushmills Live in the City’ is a welcome gesture to local music fans looking to soak up some of the whiskey and music festival’s atmosphere closer to home.
With only 500 tickets available globally for BUSHMILLS LIVE, which will see both iconic and emerging artists share the stage for intimate gigs in age-old buildings at the historic Old Bushmills Distillery, Bushmills Live in the City is another opportunity for music fans to get a taster of what this unique music festival has to offer.
Following an electric performance at ‘Bushmills Live in the City’ in 2012, David C. Clements is set to make a return with band in tow. Since playing last year he has made the dizzying rise to sharing stages with Ed Sheeran, co-writing with Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol and performing exclusive tracks for E4 – all the while taking it in his stride and continuing to write some of the strongest soulful songs to emerge from Ireland in years.
Joining the lineup are Farriers, a Belfast-based five piece bringing their sound of Irish Traditional and American folk music to the fore. The last twelve months have proven eventful for the alt-folk quintet. The release of album ‘Years Ago In Our Backyard’ has garnered critical acclaim from local and national press, followed by a high-profile UK & Ireland tour with Glass Records’ ever-talented Foy Vance.
As part of the bill, Bushmills has also been searching for a local band to perform at these intimate hand-crafted gigs. With the help of media partners Cool FM and Daily Mirror, consumers have been asked to send links to their music for the chance to rock live at Live in the City.
Commenting on the recent announcement David C. Clements said: “Having played at Live in the City last year, I am really looking forward to making a comeback for 2013. These gigs have a great atmosphere and on the night it feels like you’re hanging out with friends and making some great music together.”
“It’s also great that Bushmills is giving local bands the opportunity to join the bill. This is a fantastic platform for up-coming acts to get noticed.”
Jennifer Kiernan, Brand Manager for Bushmills
said: “Bushmills Live in the City is a great opportunity for us to share what Bushmills Live is all about. Tickets are limited to the festival itself so ‘Live in the City’ is a great way for consumers to get a taste of the action. Tickets will be available through consumer promotions with Daily Mirror and Cool FM over the next couple of weeks so watch this space!
“This year we’re also on the search for a local band to join the bill and play in both Dublin and Belfast. We want to find artists who craft and perform their own music, just as the Master Distillers of BUSHMILLS™ Irish Whiskey have perfected the art of handcrafting whiskey over the past few centuries.”
